1. Dear NHS: 100 Stories to Say Thank You – Adam Kay
This book takes the form of a thank you letter to the nurses and doctors facing hardship from the covid pandemic. Adam Kay collected stories from 100 different celebrities and put them all in this book. It is an enjoyable book that shows that every single one of us needs the NHS (UK’s national healthcare system), and should be grateful for all it has done for us. 2. Hope – Tom Parker This book really touched me, as I was following Tom's story for a long time. Tom was a singer from the British band, The Wanted. He was diagnosed with a brain tumour and after a few years of battling it, he sadly passed away at the young age of 33. This book is his memoir and his last letter of thanks to the fans, friends and most importantly, his family. 3. Queen of Our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II – Robert Hardman In September, one of the key figures in the world, Queen Elizabeth II, sadly passed away, and her son, Charles, replaced her on the British throne. This wonderfully written book explores in detail her life and how she managed to become one of the longest reigning monarchs in the world. It is a very informative book written in a really interesting way, making the book enjoyable to everyone. 4. The Black Notebook – Patrick Modiano A writer finds old notes detailing his youth in Paris. He then decides to find the girl he loved and constantly mentioned in the notes. Unfortunately, he barely remembers his past, so he decides to undertake a journey to retrace his old path and find his old friends. An intriguing book, which truly deserved the Noble Prize it won. |
