Celest WatersBy Silvana Mandeville
Hello, HOLers! Welcome back to The Face of HOL.
I hope all of you are having great times. This time I have a Ravenclaw who I want to introduce to you. Let's welcome Celest Waters. 1. How did you find HOL? What attracted you to this place? I stumbled on it by accident when I was going through Harry Potter quizzes. It was something that was immersive and fun without having commitments that interfered with our day to day lives. It could fit into downtime and moments of boredom, providing some interaction and fun, especially during the COVID lockdown. 2. When you first came to HOL, were there any difficulties you encountered? It was hard figuring out where everything was and the different procedures like assignments and extra-curricular activities, but there were so many helpful students and teachers who helped and took the time to explain things that weren't very clear. 3. How do you feel about being sorted into Ravenclaw? Do you think the House suits you? I have always been sorted into Ravenclaw and love the house so much. I do think it suits me almost perfectly. 4. What is your favorite class at HOL? Care of Magical Creatures was my favourite class. I took it in my first year and then I took the advanced class afterwards because it was just fascinating. 5. When you aren't busy with classes, what things do you like to do at HOL? Which part of HOL is your favorite? I spend most of my time in the Art Department. The different projects are really fun and looking at the other submissions is really good inspiration. 6. You started your Second Year as a Student Teacher. Tell us how you feel about teaching a class? Being a student-teacher was something I really wanted to do in First Year. I remember creating my class and trying to make it fun but informative at the same time. After teaching the first semester I realised that I tried to be too quick with things and it was stressful, but I think this year I've found it more fun as I take more time with it and interact with students more. 7. Do you have a role model at HOL? Who and why? I think my role model would be Prof. Kyrie Adderholt. She was my biggest help during first year with planning my class, deciding what would be best to do and helping me fill the criteria so it was accessible to everyone. She was amazing every step of the way and I felt really supported. I really look up to her. 8. What are your hobbies? I really love being creative, so usually anything that allows me to express how I feel, I really love it. I'm currently writing a book about stumbling on love accidentally after extreme loss. I also keep a sketchbook handy so I always have somewhere to be creative and expressive no matter what. I usually jump between projects. 9. Tell us five fun facts about yourself? I'm a university student in real life. I have written poetry that has been published. I'm a pagan witch. I listen to unsolved murder podcasts to sleep. I can't speak French but I love a French singer so I can sing certain songs in French. 10. What's your goal(s) – what do you want to achieve for next year at HOL? My goal for the next year at HOL is to perform better in classes than I did this year as I was very distracted with my final year of University. I aim at some point to become a full professor for HOL. That's all about Celest Waters! See you in the next issue. |
