Welcome back to the Top 10 Songs! Some of you may remember this list from the Wizarding Times. Well, I am happy to say it is making a comeback, now in the Howler! This winter/spring edition consists of many famous and well-known artists such as Taylor Swift and Harry Styles, but also some newer ones, such as JVKE.
Check below to find out more about this edition’s Top 10 Songs! 1. Anti-Hero – Taylor Swift
One of the most recognisable singers of the decade, Taylor Swift, is back on top of the Billboard Hot 100 list. ‘Anti-hero’ is the lead single for her new album ‘Midnights’. This song was written by Jack Antonoff and Taylor Swift. In the singer’s own words: ‘this song is a real guided tour throughout all the things I tend to hate about myself, and it’s all those aspects of the things we dislike and like about ourselves that we have to come to terms with if we are going to be this person’. 2. Kill Bill – Sza Sza started to make music in the early 2010s, and this is one of the first songs of hers to be in the Billboard Hot 10 list. This song features on her second album titled ‘SOS’. ‘Kill Bill’ was written by Sza, Rob Bisel and Carter Lang. The song has strong references to the movie and talks about the revenge on his ex-boyfriend for cheating on him. 3. I’m Good (Blue) – David Guetta & Bebe Rexha If you follow the list, the last edition of the Top 10 Songs featured this song in the 6th position. Since then, it’s managed to climb up the chart to number 3. This song samples from the 1999 hit by Eiffel 65 called 'Blue (Da Ba De)’. This version of the song was written by Bebe, David, KAMILLE, Plested, Jeffrey Jey, Massimo Gabutti and Maury. This song is about feeling good and not ‘blue’. 4. As It Was – Harry Styles Again… this song has been a part of the Top 10 Songs for over a year now. To refresh your memory, this song was written by Harry and two other writers: Kid Harpoon and Tyler Johnson. The song is basically about metamorphosis and embracing a personal change. 5. Die for You – The Weeknd The Weeknd is back on the Billboard Hot 100 with his song ‘Die For You’. Despite it all, this is not a new song! It has been a single on his 2016 album ‘Starboy’. Many fans speculate this song is about his ex-girlfriend Bella Hadid. 6. Something in the Orange – Zach Bryan This young country singer started his career relatively recently, in 2017. This song was released as a single in 2022. It was written by Zach himself. This song describes how he sits in a cabin in Wisconsin and watches the sunset. The song tells the story of a man lamenting a doomed relationship, and the heartbreak of losing a loved one. 7. Made You Look – Meghan Trainor One of the most recognisable songs of the last year. My daughter has TikTok and I hear this song playing from her room almost every day. Meghan Trainor had some wonderful hits in the past, such as ‘All About that Bass’ or ‘Dear Future Husband’.
